Where I Am Coming From I was born in 1981, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. My parents are Dr. George and Rachel Layne, and I am the eldest of their six children. My mother homeschooled us until college, when I went and attended the University of Tennessee. I majored in Law and minored in Business & Marketing. I graduated in 2003, and began working as a lawyer's assistant. In 2006, I was promoted to secretary. But then, in 2009, I became governor of Tennessee. In 2007, I married Dr. Drake Gleason, who is a professor at the University of Tennessee. We now have three beautiful children: Jenny, Jake, and James. After losing the election to become the independent party candidate, I was given the privilege of working as secretary of state for the winning independent candidate, Cochise Howard.
